NASA's Big Idea Challenge Finalists

Alanna Ferri, ME'16, and Jonathan Gray, ME'16 were selected as top 10 finalists to advance in NASA’s Big Idea Challenge for college students. Big Idea seeks to rapidly advance fledgling technology for use in a wide variety of NASA missions. This year, the project involves designing an inflatable heat shield for a mission to Mars. Special emphasis is given on manipulating the shape of the shield to increase mission flexibility and chance of success.
